It was an interesting match up. Tournament´s no. 2 Mathieu Castagnet played Czech junior Vojtech Ryba. Experienced professional against the youngest player of the tournament. Of course the difference between their level was big and world no. 9 won easily. "I never played him before but I think we had a good game. Sometimes he really surprised me., said Castagnet.
For Ryba this was a dream moment. He played top ten player. That doesn´t happen every day. "It was great, really great. Mathieu played squash from another dimension. His movement and accuracy of shots were amazing," said Ryba. And did Castagnet one of his famous dives? "He did not have to. He was just warming up," laughed Czech junior national champion.
Castagnet has been in Prague before. He visited his friend Gregory Gaultier who lives here several times. This is the first time he is playing the tournament here. "Glass court is good. I tried to find my rythm in the first match, to warm up. It is always good for people to be able to watch matches on glass court." When asked which Czech players he know he said: "I know Jan Koukal very well. But the other Czech players. I don´t know when did Czech squash association started but overall Czech squash is getting stronger. You can see it at organization of this event. Young players need to play with the best."
