All the Czech players lost today at the European individual championships in Prague. Both Czech no. 1 players Jan Koukal and Anna Serme lost their quarterfinal matches. 17 times national champion Koukal lost to world no. 38 Lucas Serme from France. Anna Serme played an interesting match against her sister-in-law Camille Serme who is tournament´s no. 1 seed. Czech player lost 0/3.
"I reached my goal. I wanted to get into quarters. But I did not add anything extra, so my feelings are mixed" said Koukal who was 0/2 down in the match and was 2 points away from losing the match in the third. He managed to come back, levelled at 2/2. "Koukal varied his return of serve very well and was putting me under pressure. I know him for long time and I know he is an experienced player. I knew the match would be tough because I watched his previous matches," said Frenchman Serme who won the fifth game 11/4. "Lucas changed his tactics and I could not react. I did not run out of steam," added Koukal who will not repeat his final from 2005 when the tournament was held also in Prague.
Two sisters-in-law played their first competitive match against each other - Czech Anna Serme against French Camille Serme. Top seed did not give her opponent a chance and won 3/0. "It was strange to play against her, we train together almost every day," said Camille who will face German Sina Wall in her semifinal.
